Coyote hunting is one of the most important seasons for us here are Pine Grove Lodge.
Not only is it a fun hunt in a beautiful setting, but it also helps us keep our deer population
high. We maintain several coyote baits from December to April which draw in multiple
packs of coyotes as well as many loners. In Maine you can also hunt coyotes during the
night, which commonly is the most productive time as well, while night vision is optimal,
we also offer use of our night hunting lights and also strategically set up our bait sites as
to ensure the moonlight will illuminate the bait. Because of this, if you are not using
night vision, it is best to time your hunt around the full moon if possible, in order to give
you the best chance at seeing a coyote at night without a light. If you want to hunt
during the day, that is also available, with many coyotes coming to the baits during the
day. All of out bait sites have heated shacks which the coyotes are accustomed to
seeing and will keep you warm and cozy down to –30.
