This short 1-2 day canoe trip begins in the Forks ends in Pleasant Ridge near the
Lodge. Putting into the Kennebec River, we have several miles of quickwater through
Caratunk and down into Wyman Lake. We will camp one night on Wyman Lake and exit
the lake the afternoon of the second day. Along the way there are two beautiful
waterfalls, Mill Stream Falls and Houston Brook Falls, a hike to a chasm with sharp cliffs
rising 40ft above the stream below, the location of an old homestead, and many other
interesting stops along the river. The fishing on the trip is also excellent with bass, trout
and salmon through the water. This is a great beginner trip or for a good escape from
daily life. While not the most remote water, there is still beautiful scenery and fun
memories to be made for all.
